kiok is a brand founded by designer Kiok Kang in 1979, initially known as “Gang Mode.” Kiok Kang completed her master’s in fashion design at Hongik University. Kang rebranded it as “kiok” in 2005, introducing collections focused on denim as the primary material. In the process, she developed a range of unique techniques with denim, earning multiple patents that continue to influence kiok’s diverse denim designs today.

Since its debut at Seoul Fashion Week in 2003, kiok has maintained a consistent runway presence for over 15 years. Over the past four decades, the brand has remained dedicated to capturing the spirit of the present and designing with an eye on blending seamlessly with the times.

In 2024, a year when things come and go at unprecedented speed, kiok is sustained by kiok Kang’s two daughters, Creative Director Crayon Lee and Designer Coco J. Lee, who together carry the brand’s legacy forward.

kiok은 디자이너 강기옥이 1979년에 시작한 브랜드로, 애초 이름은 ‘강모드’였습니다. 강기옥은 홍익대학교 대학원 의상디자인학과 석사 과정을 마쳤습니다. 2005년 브랜드명을 ‘kiok’으로 변경하고 데님을 주 소재로 한 컬렉션을 선보이기 시작했습니다. 이 과정에서 강기옥은 데님을 활용한 다양한 테크닉을 연구하여 다수의 관련 특허를 보유하게 되었으며, 이러한 기술들은 현재 kiok의 데님 디자인에 폭넓게 활용되고 있습니다.

2003년 첫 서울패션위크 참가 이후, kiok은 15년 이상 꾸준히 런웨이 컬렉션을 진행해 왔으며, 브랜드가 지속된 지난 40년간 현재와 현상에 집중하며 시대에 어우러질 수 있는 디자인을 추구해 왔습니다.

2024년, 어느 때보다 빠른 속도로 많은 것이 생겨나고 사라지는 오늘날, kiok은 강기옥의 두 딸인 크리에이티브 디렉터 Crayon Lee와 디자이너 Coco J. Lee가 함께 그 명맥을 이어가고 있습니다.
